Luis Enrique says that he will not rush forward Neymar back from injury

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says that he will not rush forward Neymar back from injury.

The Brazilian recently suffered a groin strain while preparing for the game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. The 23-year-old has been in fine form this season and it has not been surprising to see him nominated as one of the potential candidates to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. He has scored an astonishing 16 goals in 18 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions. Enrique decided not to risk a number of his regular first team players for the game against the German club.

Barcelona had already qualified for the last 16 of the competition as group winners and they had nothing to play for in this match. It seemed that Enrique had planned to come away from this match with no new injuries. The club had only recently brought back Lionel Messi from a long spell on the sidelines and it was the presence of Neymar that helped them tide over the crisis. Neymar and Suarez combined it together to create a winning combination in several games. It is imperative for the club that Neymar is fully fit for the upcoming Club World Cup. Hence, he is unlikely to be rushed back from the injury according to Enrique.

"Any injury, whoever is the player involved, is always disappointing news for everyone here. Now we have to wait and see how he responds, what the doctors say in Barcelona and what the diagnosis is.After that we'll wait to see him back as with any other injured player, and hope he recovers well sooner or later. That depends on how he deals with it and what the doctors say," said Enrique. The injury is a blow for Neymar, who is looking to become the top scorer in the la Liga this season.
